Draw Post Assignment

This is gonna sound corny but the drawing aspect of this made me think back to my childhood, I never knew how to properly draw but that never caused me to lose interest in art. So I would draw stick figures to represent people and draw clouds as well as half of a sun with rays. I always used black because it was my favorite color and still is. Im sure my classmates did a better job with this assignment but I really just wanted to show what I would do as a kid thanks !

Designing With Technology – Part 1 P5 Assignment

Hey Professor, I was not able to share a link but this ended up being my image after messing with some examples. This turns out to be rocket science to me. The example helped a lot, but I moved the moving images around and created this. This is what looks like a square coming out of a circle. What was the easiest to me was messing with the colors.

Blog #7: Impact of the Internet

The Internet has turned our world on its head. It has transformed communications to the point where it is now our preferred mode of communication on a daily basis. We utilize the Internet in practically every aspect of our lives.

The Internet has undergone a transformation. It was a static network meant to ferry a tiny freight of bytes or a short message between two terminals in its early days, which were still relatively recent from a historical perspective; it was a repository of information where the content was generated and maintained only by skilled coders. Today, however, enormous amounts of data are posted and downloaded through this electronic monster, and the content is very much our own, as we are all commentators, publishers, and creators at this point.  Wireless computing technology has a variety of effects. Wireless technology has a number of advantages in computing, including faster response to questions, less time spent on paperwork, more time spent online for users, just-in-time and real-time control, and tighter connectivity between clients and hosts.

Wireless communication has had a significant impact on how businesses operate, making it easy to communicate with clients all over the world. Smartphones have transformed the way news is covered and reported, making everybody with one everywhere in the world a potential spot-news reporter and practically any event almost certain to be captured from several perspectives. People can use smartphone video cameras to record live news events, and smartphone communications allow them to broadcast the video to the rest of the globe.

Blog #6: NFTs

A non-fungible token is a digital ledger datum that is unique and non-transferable. NFTs can be used to represent easily replicable goods like images, movies, audio, and other sorts of digital assets as unique items, and blockchain technology can be used to provide verified and public evidence of ownership.

NFTs have several advantages, including the ability to transform government or private-sector papers into one-of-a-kind personalized tokens. In theory, people could one day own digital documentation wallets holding driver’s licenses, immunization records, and even birth certificates issued by sovereign governments. NFTs can be used as artworks whose authenticity can be checked without the need for a central authority. Lastly, NFTs are well-suited to online video games. NFTs can allow players to purchase and keep unique virtual products like skins, armor, and weapons systems. NFTs, unlike centralized in-game purchases and microtransactions, could be generated and sold by players.

NFTs can also have harmful impacts. Because NFTs aren’t well-understood by the general public, there are certain to be con artists and con artists out there looking to profit from people’s ignorance or misunderstanding.

Negatives include purchasing NFTs with large royalty costs that return to the seller and purchasing NFTs that convey “ownership” without legal documentation or a written agreement claiming so. According to the Forbes article, “What are NFTs and Are They Here To Stay?”, Gallagher explains,  “Whether we’re going to keep seeing headline-grabbing million dollar auction sales, well, that depends on whether consumers keep demanding them.” I agree with this quote because, despite the positives and negatives of NFTs, it all depends on the consumer and whether they want to continue purchasing NFTs.

Blog #5: Crowdsourcing

Historically, technical advancements have been led by the innovations of a few with access to the resources and platforms to influence, but crowdsourcing had reversed this trend. Wired Magazine defines crowdsourcing as “the process of a firm or institution taking a function once performed by workers and outsourcing it in the form of an open appeal to an unspecified (and generally big) network of people.” The internet has facilitated, broadened, and accelerated the interactions underlying crowdsourcing as time passes.

Crowdsourcing and open innovation websites enable people from all walks of life to contribute to cutting-edge technology. One example of crowdsourcing is iStockPhoto. In Wired Magazine’s article, “The Rise of Crowdsourcing”, Howe explains “iStockphoto, which grew out of a free image-sharing exchange used by a group of graphic designers, had undercut Harmel by more than 99 percent. How? By creating a marketplace for the work of amateur photographers—homemakers, students, engineers, dancers.”

Because firms may receive labor for a lot less than they would pay a regular employee, the ways of labor are changing as a result of crowdsourcing. For instance, Howe describes a deal for the selling of images for a museum that was canceled because they discovered crowdsourced photographs for a dollar on iStockPhoto. There are advantages to crowdsourcing because you can get the labor for a lot less money, but it has a negative influence on businesses and professionals who lose money.

Blog #3: Search Engine

The Search engine I have created is “Quote”! Quote is a specific search engine that only searches through articles and archives specifically for your request. For example, if I search up the borough “The Bronx”, Quote will lead different to different articles, books, documents, etc., regarding only the Bronx. Of course, Quote is very similar to Google. But what differs between Google and Quote is Quote is specifically geared for studies and fact checks. Generally, more students and people who have research-prone occupations are fit to enjoy Quote more than Google. Quote also has a “Be Specific” button which is an advanced search that requires 3 words or more. This allows the searcher to find exactly what they are looking for (whether it’s specific information or an actual quote) within the first 3 results. Quote takes pride in simplicity and specifically for both personal and research purposes.
